About me and what I do.
My name is Lorraine Carde and I love my work as horses are so incredibly rewarding! I also enjoy spending time with my own horse. I cover Edinburgh, Lothians, Southern parts of Fife and the Scottish Borders (travel costs may be added due to distance). I am qualified, registered and insured to perform: Equine Myo-manipulative Functional Therapy (Veterinary Physiotherapy), Swedish Massage, Shiatsu, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Sports Massage, Equilaser Cold Laser Therapy and Craniosacral Therapy. I strive to improve your equine partner's performance and comfort by reducing tension and soreness. Regardless of your horses’ discipline, they cannot give their best if they do not feel their best. A typical session includes full-body massage and stretching, with a focus on areas that are problematic. Myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, Shiatsu and Cold Laser Therapy are often integrated to support specific goals such as reducing inflammation, aiding recovery, preventing atrophy (wasting) of muscles, increasing range of motion, releasing restrictions, relieving pain/discomfort or establishing trust with a horse recovering from trauma/injury.
Indicators your horse may need bodywork techniques:
Does your horse demonstrate any of the following:
Shortened strides, incorrect canter lead, problems with lateral work, hollowing of the back, head carriage issues, headshaking, stiff on one rein, bucking or rearing, toe dragging, not engaging hindquarters, refusing or knocking down fences-uncharacteristically, unhappy being groomed, irritated being tacked up, not standing still to mount, kicking out, starting to bite, delayed recovery after competition, post saddle fitting problems, suffered a fall or other injury and uneven muscle development.
I can help your horse to feel and move better by using a range of EQUINE bodywork techniques Equine Myo-manipulative Functional Therapy (EMFT), including: Myofascial Release, Craniosacral Therapy, Shiatsu, Trigger Point Therapy, Sports Massage, Gua Sha and Cold Laser Therapy.
As an Equine Bodyworker (Veterinary Physiotherapist) incorporating: Myofascial Release, Craniosacral Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, Sports Massage, Cold Laser Therapy and Gua sha I can: release tension/restrictions in your equine partners muscles, creating a happier, healthier horse with improved performance. Regardless of whether your horse is ridden or retired, they love to be treated to bodywork and Craniosacral sessions and all horses benefit from the sessions.
